Belle and Sebastian
I feel like Belle and Sebastian are people that I know. Their music is not huge. But I connect with it on an odd level. Not that I want to write music like them necessarily, but just that I adore all of them as individuals. I feel as though they are long-lost friends. Their music reminds me of travel, reminds me of tour, reminds me of being on my own but looking forward to things. It makes me happy and sad all at the same time. I love them. Oh, and I just found out that Carey Mulligan (who I also adore) sang the lead female's part on the title track of their new album, released at the end of last year. Can't wait to own it.
Tour
I remember a particular time on the Family Fun Tour with Cory Taylor Cox where we walked around Hattiesburg, Mississippi for an entire day and were bored out of our minds waiting for a show that night. When you're on tour, it is assumed that you will not eat until there is free food somewhere. It usually pans out all right. However, at this point I was very hungry and hadn't eaten in a couple days. I had roughly $4 cash left for the rest of the tour that I had been saving for emergency food. But the bakery in Hattiesburg had this wonderful looking fruit tart. I'd never had a fruit tart, but all of a sudden (I guess I thought of Alice in Wonderland or some other movie from my childhood), I HAD to have that fruit tart! Spent the whole $4 on one tart and was poor and starving for the rest of the tour. But the fruit tart was worth it. :) We took our Family Fun Tour picture at this same train station. I miss tour. :)
Tipp-Tapp
I found a note that I wrote for myself in my phone that was originally intended to remind me to post on this next bit. Whoah, that sounded like a run-on. But it says something about "people tapping with the front of their foot and others with the back." .....Doesn't sound as interesting anymore. But I'll finish the thought. Most people, when listening to a live show, tap their foot to the beat, whether they intend to or not. However, some people tap with the front of their foot. Lightly going to the beat. Others tap with the back of their foot. Slamming it down as if they're losing their balance all the while. And I was wondering as to the differences in personality of people who tap with the front or the back of their foot. Perhaps it's musicians and non-musicians, or drummers and pianists, or athletes and secretaries. I'm not exactly sure, and I don't think it really matters. But it is a thought. So much of my day consists of thoughts like these. For the record, I tap with the back of my foot.
So how does a secretary tap?
